Meet the Artists

Jason Yenter has grown up in the world of fabric and quilting. His mother, Sharon, started In The Beginning in 1977 and Jason has been a part of the company much of his life. Now, as president and creative director, he continues the company’s tradition of offering high quality products featuring exciting designs.

Jennifer Heynen has a passion for sewing, painting, and crafting. Over the years she has used her whimsical sense of style for designing fabrics, beads, ribbons, bags, jewelry, garden flags, and more. Jennifer’s creations exude happiness and fun. She lives in Athens, Georgia with her husband and two sons.

Michele Hill is an award-winning quilt maker and author of several books, and many patterns, featuring her amazing appliqué designs. Much of her work is based on her love for all things William Morris. In 2009 she retired from 35 years of nursing and took up a ‘new career’ – to keep the “genius of Morris alive.” She lives in Australia.

Julie Paschkis is a painter and book illustrator. She grew up in Philadelphia and has lived in Seattle, Washington since 1982. You can see her love of pattern and folk art in her paintings, papercuts, embroidery, and book illustrations. All of her work tells stories. The many children’s books she has illustrated include folk tales, poetry, and biography.
